Boards rubbed and faded, but binding still tight. There is a total of 248 pages with neat handwriting, plus 30 small black and white photographs. First Trip - Round Africa per S.S. Ussukuma and S.S. Watussi: Monday Jan 15, 1934 - Monday May 7th, 1934 (pp.114). Second Trip - Liverpool to Rangoon: Fri. Jan 4th 1935 - (86pp.). Third Trip - West Indies & Central America: Friday Dec 27th 1935 - Monday April 6th 1936 (48pp.) . The author of the diary has been identified from names mentioned in the book, the ships he travelled on and passenger lists available on family history sites. Arthur William Woolland was born in December 1876 in Southampton, Hampshire, England. He married Annie Elizabeth Millbank in 1897. However they divorced in 1909. In about 1911 Arthur married Lilian Mary Harding and they stayed together until Arthur's death in 1950. The census returns for 1901 and 1911 show that Arthur was an insurance Broker.
